This is an odd situation for me as writing this entry assumes it is worthy for other people to be interested in it enough to read it. I’ll give it a try, however, as I have failed a lot and by God’s grace learned a lot. Hopefully, any readers who happen to wander into this space will find my entries edifying and hopefully entertaining.
In January of this year, 2025, I retired after a 35 year career in teaching. During that time I taught myriad courses at the high school and community college level. My eclectic teaching experience included teaching high school English courses, English as a Second Language courses to adults and high schoolers, physical education, media production, nutrition and health courses. Additionally, I served as a coordinator for distance learning and as a professional development specialist assisting community college teachers with course design and the design of online learning environments. However, my retirement, which I have longed to enter, has allowed me to pursue my real passion: Loving God and Loving Like God. Yes, I am a follower of Jesus and I wish to share my journey up to my retirement and chronicle my journey as long as the Lord wants me here on Earth or until I snack myself to death. More on that side note later.
I accepted Jesus as my personal Saviour approximately 50 years ago. It’s been so long since the night that I walked the aisle at the Southern Baptist Church after watching Thief in the Night at a Sunday night service that I cannot remember exactly in what year this event occurred. I assume it was after 1972 as that was the year the movie was released. Unfortunately, Jesus only became my Saviour that night, it took a long time for Him to become my Lord.
